|
Performs professional and supervisory work overseeing lead student advocates to ensure a positive impact on the social, economic, and academic performance of children, youth, and young adults involved in Kidz Zone programs. Is responsible for planning and coordinating the work of staff and providing ongoing support, supervision, and training to meet long-term Department goals and objectives. Monitors the timely documentation and caseload progress of lead student advocates, including collection and submission of all reports and documentation for compliance with grant and stated indicators. Assists in the development of programs and budget accountability for appropriate use of funds. Works with school administrators, staff, and legal guardians to monitor lead student advocates' interactions with students and families regarding attendance, behavior, grades, and community/family needs to provide quality programming services. Must exercise discretion. Work is performed under the direction of the manager. Performance is reviewed through reports submitted, meetings, and results achieved.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Human Development, Psychology, Social Works, Education, or related field and three (3) years experience promoting the academic, social, or personal success of children, youth, and young adults including one (1) year in a responsible supervisor role required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required. Experience in the fields of child abuse, juvenile law, or volunteer program management preferred. A valid Florida Driver's License is required. Must pass a background check which includes a polygraph. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Organizes
Is responsible for data collection for student tracking, monitoring, and grant submission at a Kidz Zone Center. Cross references data entered into database to ensure accuracy of records. Monitors lead student advocates’ caseload progress and documentation for compliance and accuracy of data collection, including student attendance, behavior, and grades. Reviews LifeMap’s data each quarter for quality work; makes certain that all needs are being addressed, and that students and their families are being connected with. Also reviews lead student advocate touchpoints and case notes; provides recommendations accordingly.
Represents the assigned Kidz Zone Center on various work committees; provides input/information; and ensures inclusion in various programs, projects, and activities across the community. Serves as a liaison for Orlando Kidz Zone with Orange County Public School District; meets with school administration to discuss progress of program and OKZ personnel at each school; and makes on-site school observation visits of lead student advocates.
Works with City contracted providers to improve service quality. Reviews, recruits, develops, and assists with coordination of contractors for Orlando Kidz Zone programs. Observes and evaluates programming for quality and youth engagement.
Assists in the development of programs and monitoring of programs and budgets to ensure fiscal accountability and effective use of funds.
Assists in the development of multidisciplinary team meetings on a bi-weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly basis with the youth and other supporting groups of youth and families.
Attends meetings and training as requested.
Creates reports as needed.
Organizes outreach and recruitment community events. Attends community partner, feeder school, and neighborhood center events. Assists with planning and implementation of community events. Plans and implements Orlando Kidz Zone events.
Works on-call as scheduled for crisis case management situations; assists youth/family with intervention process to meet the urgent needs (shelter, food, medical) of the student/family.
Develops and executes recruitment plans to boost participant recruitment and maintain stable caseloads for lead student advocates. Designs and implements age-appropriate benchmarks aimed at fostering optimal development in children. Reviews participant registration paperwork; reviews participant registration forms; and matches students with a lead student advocate.
Reviews community feedback and implements strategies to mitigate them. Researches resources and interventions which can be utilized to assist the students and their families.
Submits vehicle requests for transportation of youth. Ensures staff are trained on appropriate use of a City vehicle and are following vehicle use policies and procedures.
Submits communications and graphic art requests to Communications Department.
Assists lead student advocates with: Orlando Kidz Zone parent/guardian conferences regarding program progress; with court ordered appearances of youth; with home visits for youth on caseloads; with school parent/guardian meetings (regarding learning accommodations, behavioral concerns, or any other meetings parent/guardian needs to attend).
Screen resumes for vacant positions; schedules and conducts interviews; facilitates on-boarding orientation and training sessions for new employees; trains on entering data into ETO system and how to write case notes; and recommends personnel actions such as promotions, demotions, or terminations. Schedules/approves staff time off requests for full-time and part-time staff.
Completes accident/incident reports, as needed.
Provides supervisor with updates of lead student advocates’ performance, issues with caseload, and program updates.
Performs other duties as assigned.
