Job Description
 
Performs administrative and professional work directing and coordinating the development and execution of the After-School All-Star (ASAS) Orlando fundraising plan. An incumbent in this position is also responsible for maintaining relationships with government, foundations, and individual partners, as well as raising awareness for After-School All-Stars. Work is performed under the direction of the After-School All-Stars State Director and is reviewed through meetings, reports submitted, observation, and evaluation of results obtained.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field, and two (2) years of experience in the non-profit, development, or public relations field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The individual is expected to be experienced in nonprofit fund development with demonstrated success in cultivating individual donors, corporate sponsorship, and foundation grants. Supervisory, training and budget experience required. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass a criminal background check.
 
Responsibilities

Works with the City of Orlando, After-School All-Star State Director, and After-School All-Star Body of Directors (ASAS BODs) to develop and implement a fundraising strategy to support the goals, objectives, and activities. This includes raising unrestricted and restricted funds from corporations, foundations, individuals, and government agencies through advocacy initiatives, grant applications, sponsorship proposals, solicitation from donors and fundraising events.

Manages the data system and internal processes for tracking donors, prospects, sponsors, and funding including: maintaining accurate records of relationships, deadlines, and funding requirements; ensuring compliance with applicable reporting guidelines

Develops and manage ASAS BODs.

Works with the BODs to strategize, plan, and solicit major sponsors and donors.

Prepares and distributes, as appropriate, all needed materials for soliciting sponsors.

Researches and writes or supervises the preparation of grant applications or sponsorship proposals.

Develops, manages, and maintains relationships with media; uses them to communicate the message of ASAS and promote appropriate events.

Implements social media and online communication strategy.

Works with colleagues across the ASAS national network to share information, resources, and to lead and collaborate on national efforts.

Ensures that marketing and fund development are carried out in keeping with the organization’s values, mission, vision, and plans. Develops and executes a comprehensive marketing and media strategy to facilitate the achievement of agency goals, objectives, and plans. Cultivates and manages media relationships to amplify agency messaging, promote services and events, and safeguard the brand.

Travels to off-site meetings, trainings, and events.

Schedules, posts, and supports facilitation of ASAS Board of Directors meetings, ensuring timely preparation and distribution of the agenda, development of thorough board materials, and coordination with the board chairman on all agenda items.

Develops and manages government affairs activities that include large-scale state funding proposals, elected official relations, State Department communications, and other state and local advocacy efforts.

Serves as a liaison to key stakeholders including the local non-profits, federal and state government agencies, foundations, corporate sponsors, community partners and the ASAS National organization.

Recruits and manages all full-time and part-time development staff and volunteers to support fundraising activities, special projects, and events; provides leadership and development training on all aspects of external affairs activities.

Works in conjunction with Division Manager to prepare the annual operating budget for approval.

Performs other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of fund development and nonprofit management.

Knowledge of youth development programs.

Knowledge of state, federal, and corporate grant administration.

Knowledge of school districts’ policies, practices, and systems.

Skilled in computer software such as – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access), email/electronic calendar, and data collection systems.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to plan, direct, and review the work of others.

Ability to work with a wide range of program stakeholders (students, staff, school district, community partners).
