Job Description
 

Performs professional work supporting Sustainability Leadership and Project Managers in the City of Orlando’s Office of Sustainability, Resilience, and Future-Ready. Responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, analyzing, reporting, and/or promoting projects related to clean energy, green buildings, livability, local food, transportation and mobility, clean water, or solid waste throughout the City of Orlando. Duties may include coordinating logistics between administrative services and operations; conducting background research to support new and ongoing projects; tracking progress and reporting data periodically to City operational staff and customers through summaries, reporting, and meeting presentations; developing educational materials; and conducting community outreach. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Sustainability Project Manager. Performance is reviewed through direct observation, reports submitted, and evaluation of results obtained.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Engineering, Urban Planning, Sustainability, Social Sciences, Data Science, or related field and two (2) years of related work experience in environmental sustainability, resilience, communications, education, data analysis, public policy, or public administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Florida Driver’s License is required depending on the area of assignment.

 
Responsibilities

Example of Work Performed is dependent upon the area of assignment.

Assists the Office of Sustainability and Resilience in coordinating project/program logistics across multiple sectors, including internal/interdepartmental or external, between the City and private entities. 

Develops training, outreach, and educational materials related to sustainability projects/programs. 

Works closely as a liaison between Green Works and the Office of Communications and Neighborhood Relations in creating informed messaging for the community.

Records and tracks the progress of projects/programs. 

Assists with the Office of Sustainability & Resilience response to public records requests when assigned. 

Conducts research and develops reports related to relevant projects. 

Performs other related work as assigned. 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of City policies. 

Knowledge of Florida Public Records Law. 

Knowledge of sustainability concepts. 

Knowledge of data analysis.

Knowledge of building energy management.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.

Skilled in the use of computers, and Microsoft business applications.
 
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  

Ability to think critically.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
 
Ability to train and oversee the work of others.  

Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
