Job Description
|
|
Performs professional-level work with responsibility for planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating the City of Orlando's special events. Responsible for working with staff within the Special Events Division on all special events organized by the City. Primary duties include approving preliminary event permits and organizing and executing special events while ensuring they are within budget. Assists in managing the 18A process, finding creative ways to ensure successful events with a focus on safety, and providing a great event experience. Works with the Division Manager and staff to assist with partners who bring major events to the City. Work is performed under the general direction of the Special Events Division Manager. Performance is reviewed periodically through both formal and informal meetings and reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field and at least five (5) years of experience in advanced-level management and administration, including one (1) year of experience in a supervisory or other leadership capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Polygraph and background check required. Excellent organizational, planning, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

Develops budget process for the Special Events Office.
Oversees and supervises all phases of special event permitting.
Coordinates safety & security plan with public safety departments.
Maintains communication with other city departments.
Maintains communication with outside partners.
Responds to inquiries reference special events.
Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of current city codes pertaining to outdoor public assembly (18A) permits.
Knowledge of current state laws and city ordinance.
Knowledge or city codes as it pertains low noise, after hours permitting, and transportation.
Knowledge of billing and invoicing procedures as it pertains to Special Events.
Knowledge of city rules and regulations.
Knowledge of city written directives.
Knowledge of city budgeting procedures.
Knowledge of city personnel regulations.
Knowledge of city purchasing procedures.
Knowledge of computer programs.
