Job Description
|
|
Coordinates and supervises ground maintenance and mowing performed by contractors to meet contract specifications and completion of work assignments. An incumbent assigned to this position is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and inspecting the completed work, writing contract specifications, and invoice processing of contracts. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Parks Contract Administrator and work is reviewed through conferences, inspection of job sites, and evaluation of completed work.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma required. Plus two (2) years experience with management or supervision of landscape maintenance and high production mowing operations and/ or commercial irrigation system operation/maintenance and one (1) year experience with contract administration and coordination or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Florida Driver's License is required.

Coordinates all ground maintenance, mowing and irrigation system maintenance/operation, and litter removal done by contractors
on park grounds, retention ponds, and bike paths.
Writes specifications for landscape maintenance, mowing, litter removal, and irrigation system operation/maintenance
contracts.
Inspect all completed work for contract compliance.
Review and submit all invoices from contractors for payment.
Maintains records, monitors expenditure accounts, and purchases equipment and janitorial supplies.
Responsible for ensuring all contractors comply with all safety rules and traffic control procedures.
Meets with contractors and vendors.
Responds to phone messages and emails.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of environmental rules and regulations for landscape maintenance and mowing operations, irrigation
system operation and maintenance.
Knowledge of City Code & Parks 18A City Code.
Knowledge of the proper application of herbicides for the control of weeds in turf and landscape beds.
Knowledge of the proper application of herbicides for the control of aquatic plants in canals, drainage ditches,
retention ponds and lakes.
Knowledge of insects, parasites, diseases, and other infestations that can affect plants, trees, and turf.
Knowledge of the proper application of insecticides, fungicides, and fertilizers.
Knowledge of commercial irrigation system operation and maintenance.
Knowledge of landscape maintenance and high production mowing, irrigation system operation, and maintenance safety rules and regulations.
Knowledge of proper landscape maintenance and high production mowing traffic control procedures.
Knowledge of proper landscaped maintenance, high production mowing, and commercial irrigation systems operations/maintenance techniques.
Ability to coordinate the work of others.
Ability to use a computer, and Word and Excel software
Ability to write contract specifications.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with staff, contractors, the public, outside agencies, and other City departments.
Ability to read and understand landscape plans and irrigation system plans, blueprints, and manuals.
Ability to operate a vehicle and comprehend and follow driving laws and regulations.
Ability to walk several miles a day on uneven surfaces exposed to heat, cold, rain, insects, noise, and chemicals. Must be able to
bend, stoop, climb, push, pull, reach overhead, and lift up to 50 lbs.
