Job Description

|
Performs professional managerial work overseeing and administering the Police Department’s law enforcement accreditation process. An incumbent in this classification is responsible for assisting the department in remaining compliant with the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) standards. Responsibilities include coordination of the accreditation activities, conducting internal audits to promote best practices, preparing accreditation reports, and working closely with department staff to implement policies and procedures that meet accreditation requirements. Work is performed under the general direction of the Police Planning Administrator and work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion, through discussions, evaluation of reports submitted, and results obtained.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field with Four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative and managerial work experience in accreditation administration for a law enforcement agency: or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Certification from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) is required. A valid Florida Driver’s License is required. A police background check and polygraph is required.

Extensive Knowledge of the CFA standards, best practices, and processes.
Skilled in the use of a computer and Microsoft Office Suite.
In-depth knowledge of law enforcement principles, practices, and organizational structure.
Excellent organizational skills for the management of time-sensitive standards, proofs, and filing.
Skilled in the use of a computer including Microsoft Suites and other software.
Skilled in record-keeping and proof maintenance procedures.
Skill in working independently and following through with assignments with minimal direction.
Skill in adapting to changing work environments, competing demands, and ability to deal with
change, delays, or unexpected events.
Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of others.
Ability to manage multiple priorities to ensure that deadlines are met.

Administers the accreditation process, including collection and maintenance of files for the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA)
proof of compliance.
Reviews interprets and implements amended and /or new accreditation standards and determines how to integrate policy into organizational structures to
improve organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
Maintains accurate records and documentation required for accreditation, including policy manuals, training records, and compliance reports.
Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to assess compliance with accreditation standards and identify areas for improvement.
Leads the department in preparation for the mock and on-site assessments.
Provide training and education to departmental staff on accreditation standards, policies, and procedures.
Identify opportunities for quality improvement within the agency and develop strategies to enhance performance and service delivery.
Collaborate with other departmental units and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with accreditation requirements and goals.
Stay informed about changes in accreditation standards, regulations, and best practices in law enforcement.
Guides and assists staff in resolving quality assurance and accreditation noncompliance issues and findings.
Performs inspections to ensure adherence to prescribed policies and procedures and accreditation standards.
Acts as department liaison with the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.
Assists staff in resolving issues and findings.
Responds to requests for information from other entities and the public.
Represents the Department in conjunction with the Chief of Police, or designee, at various meetings and conferences for accreditation.
May serves on accreditation-related committees.
Participates in accreditation-related training.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
