Job Description
 

Performs managerial and professional work planning, directing, managing and evaluating the operations of the city’s neighborhood relations, outreach and engagement initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing neighborhood and community outreach, the development, implementation and evaluation of neighborhood outreach plans for city initiatives, programs and events. Reports directly to the Office of Communications & Neighborhood Relations Director.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Relations, Urban Planning, Nonprofit Management, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field. Four (4) years of professional experience in overseeing community/neighborhood outreach programs, to include supervisory experience managing staff or volunteers within those programs or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid FL Drivers License required at time of hire.

Oversees the operations and staffing of the Neighborhood Relations Team with an emphasis on planning and managing strategic neighborhood outreach efforts citywide.

Creates, implements, and manages the neighborhood relations team’s annual budget, communications strategy, neighborhood leadership training and staffing plans aligned with the city’s strategic mission and vision. 

 Develops the Neighborhood Relations Team’s annual work plan and ensures it is aligned with the Mayor’s priorities.

Develops & implements comprehensive internal/external policies and procedures for neighborhood engagement. 

Works with residents and departments to resolve complaints. Recommends appropriate resolutions to address neighborhood specific issues. 

Communicates neighborhood relations team strategy to promote city programs, initiatives and services to residents.

Builds trust and maintains open communication with neighborhood leaders to identify community priorities, concerns, and opportunities; collaborates with them to develop outreach strategies that support city initiatives, programs, and events; and serves as a key point of contact to provide guidance, resources, and support to neighborhood associations.

Develops and delivers training for neighborhood leaders to enhance their skills in organizing, communication, and collaboration; provides resources and guidance to help them effectively engage with residents, address community concerns, and support city initiatives.

Stays informed of emerging trends and initiatives related to neighborhood capacity building, sustainability and livability. 

Collaborates with City Commissioners and their staff to align neighborhood relations team initiatives with the commissioner’s neighborhood priorities.

Skilled in the Microsoft Office product suite.

Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, city officials and the public.
