Job Description
 
Performs administrative professional work assisting the Division Director in the general administration within the Division. Responsible for the development and implementation of special projects. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director and reviewed through conferences, reports, and evaluations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture or Landscape Architecture and four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a management role, which includes event planning and management, revenue generation and expense management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Additional experience with event/attractions preferred. Valid Florida Driver's License required.
 
Responsibilities

Prepares, analyses and forecasts the benefit of and later implements special projects including but not limited the modernization of facility booking procedures, on-line registration for various educational opportunities, on-line purchase of goods sold by the Gift Shop, on line access to Leu Gardens plant collection data base, on line access to the 3000 volumes of books in the Leu Gardens’ library, and on-line sale of tickets to special events and otherwise conducts special studies and projects (including the accreditation by the American Association of Museums) pertaining to all areas of the Division’s responsibility.
Estimates revenues and probable fee yields from such activities for use in budget determinations.
Represents Division on various boards and committees.
Assumes duties of the Director in the Director’s absence.
Performs related work as required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Considerable knowledge of the methods and techniques of botanical gardens planning, development and maintenance.

Ability to gather and analyze facts and to prepare detailed reports.

Knowledge of modern principles and practices of horticulture, buildings and grounds maintenance and landscape management.

Knowledge of City policies and procedures.

Knowledge of bargaining unit agreement.

Ability to prepare comprehensive reports for publication.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, employees, and the public.

Ability to express self clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
