Job Description

|
Performs professional, administrative, and supervisory work assisting the Executive Director of the Downtown Development Board (DDB) in the development and implementation of operational policies and program objectives for the DDB and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Division.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field and six (6) or more years of progressively responsible experience in public administration, one (1) year of which must have been in a progressively responsible supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination education, training, and experience.

Manages, coordinates, and directs activities of a cross-functional team of office employees along with staff in the field; staff; assigns priorities to tasks and projects; reviews assignments and program activity; and provides guidance and technical assistance as needed.
Provides insight on economics and fiscal impact analysis related to DDB/CRA funded projects and general budget.
Provides insight on economic development incentive recommendations for development in the DDB/CRA districts.
Is responsible for building public/private business partnerships.
Assist in the development of innovative programs and implementation strategies to promote and support the retention, expansion, and relocation of businesses within the DDB/CRA districts.
Reviews research reports for accuracy before dissemination to groups outside of the DDB/CRA team.
Provides technical assistance to staff when navigating City of Orlando processes and implementing various projects and programs.
Directly manages and implements various projects, programs, and initiatives.
Provides recommendations on policy decisions.
Interfaces with City of Orlando leadership such as Commissioners as well as with other community leaders.
Has management and oversight responsibilities of an approximately $60 million annual budget.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of City's organizational and political structure.
Knowledge of the City's mission, goals, and business model.
Knowledge of key issues facing the region and state.
Knowledge of City's policies and procedures.
Knowledge of City and County Code and Charter.
Knowledge of personal computers and the use of various software packages.
Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and review the work of managerial and professional employees.
Ability to analyze and interpret statistics, studies, and surveys and make sound decisions regarding development and utilization of Department’s needs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City Officials, citizen and professional groups, news media, employees, and the general public.
Ability to operate a personal computer and software.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
