Job Description
 
Performs professional and managerial work overseeing the Downtown Development Board/Community Redevelopment Agency’s (DDB/CRA) marketing and communications initiatives. Develops and implements strategic marketing, media, and communication plans to promote and support the priorities of DDB/CRA. Responsibilities include creating and managing marketing programs for destination awareness and managing ad hoc campaigns while ensuring brand consistency. Work is performed under the direction of the Director of the DDB. Work is reviewed through conferences, reports, and results achieved.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Mass Communications, or related field and three (3) years professional work experience in the area of event marketing, event promotions, planning management, multimedia, interactive programs, or graphic design, including one (1) year experience in a supervisory capacity with budgetary responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required.
 
Responsibilities

Develops and implements strategic marketing, media, and communication plans to promote and support the priorities of DDB/CRA.

Manages multiple event responsibilities.

Represents the Department/Division on local organizing committees for major Downtown events and for sponsorship deliverables for events that DDB sponsors.

Tracks marketing and social media programs for performance. 

Maintains and updates asset library.

Performs copywriting and editing functions for advertorials, newsletters, collateral, media alerts, press releases, annual report, and RFP’s.

Performs supervisory responsibilities such as interviewing, training, assigning and directing work, and completing employee performance reviews for assigned staff.

Monitors allocated marketing budget and expenditures.

Manages and submits production requests for marketing creation, assets, collateral, and initiatives for various communications (advertisements, promotional videos, etc.).

Attends external partner and board meetings.

Manages content updates to the Downtown Orlando website and coordinates content updates to the City of Orlando page.

Manages and oversees the registration and maintenance of trademarks and registration marks for logos and branding.

Manages inventory of promotional items and coordinates the procurement of promotional materials.

Manages and curates email databases and eblasts; ensures accuracy and relevance.

Analyzes and interprets analytics related to website performance, social media engagement, and marketing campaigns.

Collaborates closely with the Mayor's Office and the Office of Communications and Neighborhood Relations on press events, communication strategies, crafting Mayor's talking points, and coordinating other mayoral events.

Directs marketing and retail initiatives for both Discover Downtown and the Downtown Orlando Information Center including newsletter management, website updates, social media strategies, texting programs, and other promotional activities.

Manages both Discover Downtown and the Downtown Orlando Information Center by overseeing sales, foot traffic, and overall operations.

Serves as a member of the Emergency Operations Center, specifically assigned to ESF (Emergency Support Function) 14; assists in communications during crisis situations and other emergencies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of City procurement policy and procedures.

Knowledge of laws regarding copyrights, trademark infringement, and advertising.

Knowledge of recent technology developments, current trends, literature and sources of information in the fields of marketing, communications, multimedia, social media, and special event planning.

Extensive knowledge of specialized research, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and investigative techniques as well as presentation of data analytics as it relates to formulating and developing marketing initiatives.

Knowledge of graphic design principles and AV set up interactive programs (web and social media).

Skilled in time management, ensuring all duties and assignments are completed and submitted in a timely manner.

Skilled in the use of a computer and software.

Ability to develop and concisely convey strategies, platforms, and methodologies utilized in formulation of compressive communication and marketing plans via oral and written presentation.

Ability to explain to groups, individuals, staff management, and elected boards the policies and tactics utilized in adverting campaigns, communications roll–outs, and marketing initiatives.

Ability to analyze contracts, manage consultants, and formulate/manage budgets associated with marketing campaigns, public relation initiatives, and projects.

Ability to independently plan, initiate, and complete assignments.

Ability to perform independently while exercising initiative and judgement in strategic communications, media relations, public speaking, and special projects.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, other managers and staff, and vendors.

Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and review the work of assigned employees.
