Job Description

Performs routine work cleaning of the City of Orlando facilities. Work is performed under the direction of a Lead Custodian who provides guidance in the performance of tasks and inspects offices upon completion to ensure they are maintained properly.

Minimum Qualifications:

Previous janitorial experience desired; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Ability to read, write, and follow instructions required.
OPDPrevious janitorial experience desired; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must pass police background investigation which includes polygraph. Ability to read, write, and follow instructions required.

Responsibilities

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Sweeps and mops floors; dusts and polishes furniture.

Cleans interior windows, mirrors, light switches, sinks, commodes, and other fixtures.

Keeps restrooms stocked with paper towels, toilet tissue, seat covers, sanitary napkins, and soap.

Empties wastebaskets and replaces container liners; removes trash and takes to the dumpster.

Keeps supply closets neat and orderly; stocks cleaning cart with necessary supplies.

Cleans the inside and outside of a building.

Raises flags in the morning.

Helps with setups for events.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of janitorial supplies and materials.

Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their proper application.

Ability to relay information in a clear, concise manner.

Ability to operate vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and other janitorial equipment.

Ability to perform light to moderate lifting, and considerable walking and standing, bending/stooping, and reaching overhead to perform janitorial activities.
