Job Description

|
Performs managerial and supervisory work overseeing the day-to-day operations of Lake Lorna Doone Park assuring visitors have quality experiences without compromising the park’s natural environment. The incumbent assigned to this classification plans and organizes outdoor leisure time activities and events; protects, conserves, and enhances the aesthetic quality of the physical environment; ensures the safety of visitors; and supervises assigned staff and contractors. Work is performed under the general direction of the Program Manager and is evaluated through reports, meetings, review of programs, and results achieved.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years; park management, event coordination, and community engagement or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including three (3) years in a progressively responsible supervisory capacity with budget responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Florida Driver License is required. Must pass police background investigation, including a polygraph. CPR certification required. Florida Recreation and Parks Association Certificate is required. Required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Plans, coordinates, implements, and promotes park activities and events.
Develops standards and methods; evaluates need for new or expanded outdoor recreation resources to meet present and future needs of community.
Plans, trains, organizes, assigns work, supervises, and evaluates activities, staff, and contractors.
Ensures policies, procedures, park rules and safety regulations are enforced appropriately; responds to citizen complaints or inquiries; and initiates corrective action as needed.
Develops and administers operating budget; oversees expenses and revenue collection; and prepares documents and reports as required.
Reviews daily park inspection reports and ensures maintenance and/or repairs are done; ensures facilities are clean, fees paid, and other user requirements met; and takes appropriate action as necessary when there is vandalism or other damage to facility.
Prepares various documents and reports regarding activities, facility usage, and revenues collected; performs various other duties as needed to facilitate the accomplishment of program goals; and keeps management apprised of unusual situations and results of actions taken.
Attends meetings and training as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of management principles and supervisory practices, personnel management, planning, organizing, resource allocation, motivation, and leadership techniques.
Extensive knowledge of planning and programming techniques for providing and coordinating outdoor recreation, leisure activities, and events.
Knowledge of techniques used to conduct community surveys, analyze results, and determine benefit and cost of recreation activities or events.
Skilled in communicating, both orally and in writing, and in making presentations.
Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of others.
Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and plan work effectively.
Ability to make good decisions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, staff, representatives of local business and social organizations, and the public.
Ability to work in adverse weather.
