Job Description
|
|
Performs professional-level duties and is responsible for internal employee communications. Primary duties include researching, coordinating, developing, and delivering internal communications, in writing and digitally, to enhance employees’ understanding of internal programs, services, and initiatives, as well as the city’s key priority areas. The incumbent is expected to exercise independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in performing duties. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Communications & Neighborhood Relations Director and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Administration, or related field plus three (3) years experience in communications, public information/administration, marketing, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required.

Serve as a key advisor for the strategic planning and direction of internal communications and provides strategic guidance to internal departments and leadership to help effectively communicate with employees.
Develops, implements, and evaluates internal strategic communication plans to enhance employees’ understanding of internal programs, services, and initiatives as well as the city’s key priority areas.
Provides updates to the city’s intranet, including writing and/or editing updates for posting.
Builds and manages relationships with staff and management and provides communication counsel to internal stakeholders
Tracks and measures the success of internal communications by establishing measurable goals and objectives annually.
Communicates city department programs, services, and initiatives to employees to educate and inform, staff about changes to organizational policies, programs, and benefits, including writing and executing strategic internal communication plans for new programs, policies, and changes.
Develops content to inform and motivate employees, and attract talent by utilizing social media, intranet, email, newsletters, print, and internal digital signage.
Produces and manages internal editorial calendar as a visual workflow of content and messages to share with employees on a weekly and monthly basis.
Serves on the city’s emergency response team as a part of ESF-14, with responsibilities for writing, editing, and communicating emergency information to employees, including managing and updating the employee information line.
Coordinates Mayor's visits and correspondences to operating departments.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
