Job Description
 

This position will focus on data modeling and integration to implement analytic solutions to support the strategic direction for the increased growth needs and subsequent business impact of emergency response services. Work is performed under the general direction of the Executive Deputy Fire Chief and is reviewed periodically through meetings and reports.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, Health Services, Nursing, or related field and two (2) years of experience working with FMLA, emergency or health services; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of how to integrate the strategic mission and vision of the Department into actionable items as it pertains to employee safety and wellness.

Knowledge of internal City business processes and a working knowledge of workers comp laws, standards and rules.

Skills include strong written and verbal communication skills, self-starter, strong scheduling and coordination, troubleshooting, resourceful and continuous follow up with internal and external contacts. 

Flexible, able to work under stressful situations, highly discerning, able to handle complex and confidential information, able to understand and process the relationship between workers comp standards and internal City processes.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, City officials, professional groups, promoters, agents and the general public.


Examples of Work Performed

Evaluates accident reports, ensuring the timely processing of medical bills and temporary total disability benefits, reviews medical reports, witness statements, department investigation results and other documentation.

Compiles facts and data regarding accident reports and filed cases.

Serve as liaison to workers comp. providers assisting with processing, and monitoring of injured employees’ status, to ensure timely return to work.

Work closely with and monitors IDC committee processing and submission of paperwork for review.

Monitor and collect data that indicate where injuries & illnesses occur and make recommendations to reduce these events or occurrences.

Works along with Human Resources & Payroll to ensure that employees are in the correct pay status and helps to ensure that the correct processing occurs.

Works closely with and acts as a liaison between the Department and Risk Management.   

Monitors Pension Board and IME cases for appropriate resolution and/or response from the Department.

Performs other duties as assigned.
