Job Description
|
|
Provides tennis instruction with limited administrative and supervisory responsibilities for the Families, Parks and Recreation (FPR) Department. Responsible for providing first-class customer service to our members and players by assisting the manager in planning, organizing, and implementing comprehensive child, youth, and adult tennis/pickleball programs in a secure and productive learning environment. Provides high-quality individual and group lessons, and clinics. Develops, coordinates, and assists in tournaments, special events, round robins, and summer camps. Assists in promoting tennis programs. Participates in marketing and displaying tennis merchandise in the pro shop. Supervises tasks of tennis court maintenance personnel, seasonal employees, temporary employees, and volunteers. Work is performed under the direction of the Manager. Performance is evaluated through reports, meetings, observation, and results obtained. An employee assigned to this classification must work nights, weekends, and some holidays. Most work is performed outdoors and employees are exposed to extreme heat, insects, and adverse weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and three (3) years experience teaching tennis, to include three (3) years of United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and two (2) years in a tennis supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must pass a criminal background check and polygraph examination. Must possess srong playing skills, CPR certification, First Aid certification, valid Florida Driver's License, and Pickleball PPR certification. College degree preferred. 4.0+ rating preferred.

Schedules reservations, collect fees, and deposits for programs and facility usage.
Provides prospective facility users with information regarding fees, consent forms, insurance, and related center information.
Enforces all rules and regulations governing the facility, equipment, and property use.
Develops suitable training programs for students based on their age, objectives, and individual skill sets.
Develops, coordinates, and conducts individual and group tennis lessons to help improve various tennis skills.
Identifying the learning styles that work best for each student and adapting all coaching methods accordingly.
Assists in training and evaluating subordinate employees.
Maintains records.
Coordinates tennis matches, competitions, and tournaments as required.
Executes opening and closing procedures, arming, and disengaging alarm systems, and unlocking and locking doors. Conducts opening or closing register procedures.
Conducts inspections of buildings, courts, grounds, and equipment to ensure safety and cleanliness.
Orders supplies and equipment.
Performs related work as required.

Knowledge of merchandising, marketing, and retailing tennis equipment.
Knowledge of tennis court maintenance including clay courts.

Exceptional skills in instructing beginners and skilled players in the game of tennis and pickleball.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient computer, and software skills including Microsoft Office, sale software, tournament, and handicap software.
