Job Description
 
Performs professional outreach work as directed by the Economic Development Department. Serves as a key point of contact for Downtown Orlando businesses and community members seeking information and resources. Responsibilities include developing and implementing outreach initiatives to foster strong connections, overseeing the day-to-day operations of Downtown Orlando's visitor information center and retail store, and developing and executing special projects and programs to engage with the local community. Work is performed independently and reviewed by the Downtown Development Board/Community Redevelopment Agency's (DDB/CRA) Assistant Division Manager through regular meetings and communication. Must periodically work evening hours, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Public Administration, or related field and two (2) years of business outreach experience, including one (1) year of experience in a progressively responsible lead or supervisory capacity and some customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass background check which includes a polygraph.

Ability to analyze policy and technical issues and to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with municipal officials, businesses,
and the public.

Ability to speak clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

Ability to speak effectively to public groups, civic organizations, and communities.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and adhere to all driving laws.

Ability to work evening hours, weekends, and holidays.

Serves as a liaison to downtown businesses, churches, and other entities.

Collaborate with community organizations and leaders to strengthen partnerships.

Monitors business openings and closings.

Monitors issued and expired Business Tax Receipts.

Directs businesses and other entities to City services based on need.

Oversees the day-to-day operations of the information center and retail store, including staff.

Assists customers with their retail purchases and monetary transactions.

Organizes and participates in events to promote the information center’s services and retail offerings.

Oversees the selection and procurement of retail products to display and sell at the information center.

Develops and distributes promotional materials to increase awareness of the information center and retail stores offerings.

Utilizes social media and other platforms to enhance communication and outreach efforts.

Tracks and analyzes data related to information center services and the retail store to monitor community engagement.

Maintains an organized system for managing and updating information resources.

Monitors and tracks expenditures.

Schedules, trains, assigns and oversees the work of subordinate employees.

Prepares reports on outreach activities, community needs, and suggestions for improvement.

Attends meetings as assigned.

Performs other duties as may be assigned.
