Job Description
|
|
Performs lead clerical/technical work in researching and verifying City of Orlando sewers (laterals), force main, and reuse lines for private contractors and consulting firms. Responsibilities include general clerical office work, answering telephones and relaying information found on the sewer maps to other City departments and the general public, and dispatching stop sewers to appropriate crews. An employee assigned to this classification has considerable public contact and must exercise discretion, tact, and diplomacy. The employee may be required to meet with contractors, vendors, and the general public. Work is performed under general supervision. Performance is reviewed while in progress and upon completion through observation, discussions, and review of reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years experience in wastewater collection or a related area, with the ability to read and interpret maps, charts, blueprints and engineering drawings; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must demonstrate Microsoft Office Suite, Word, and Excel proficiency.

Performs responsible specialized clerical work involving the receipt, review, and processing of sewer connections, and sanitary sewer verifications.
Composes memorandums, letters, revises and develops forms, reports, spreadsheets, etc.
Processes payroll including leave request and overtime documents.
Uses Maintenance Connection to prepare reports on work order progress and to update asset management data.
Answers telephones, takes locate information, looks up special information required for projects, contact customers for scheduling of locate requests.
Verifies exact location of our sewer laterals.
Responds to customer locate request in a reasonable time.
Ensures records are kept up to date.
Informs supervisor of daily situations.
Contacts supervisors using the radio.
Calls in excavations.
Schedules line locates.
Works with other City departments in relation to wastewater collection.
Organizes mylars and paper maps received from engineering to be logged in a recording system.
Assists and trains other members of the group.
Enters and retrieves information from a computerized database.
Performs other related work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the requirements of Sunshine One Call Program, location of reference documents, established policies and procedures of the section.
Knowledge of City streets and maps.
Knowledge of personal computers and the use of various software packages.
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office
Possess a high level of customer service skills.
Ability to operate, enter and retrieve information from a personal computer and software/programs ie. Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Exel, etc.
Ability to prioritize assignments and work independently.
Ability to perform detail work quickly and accurately.
Ability to work with complex records.
Ability to read and interpret maps, charts and blueprints.
Ability to meet stringent deadlines.
Ability to operate a personal computer for extended periods of time.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written
