Job Description
 
Position performs responsible skilled field work involving the planning, programming, installation, maintenance, and repair of CCTV/electronic surveillance equipment. Work requires the ability to operate and work a bucket truck at an elevated height, as well as considerable knowledge in the area of precision electronic, mechanical, and electrical diagnosis, testing, programming, installation, repair, and maintenance of CCTVs. Work is performed under the supervision of the sworn Crime Center Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and experience in programming, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment, preferably CCTVs. A valid Florida Driver's License is required. Must pass a police background check which includes a polygraph.

May be required to be on call for after hours outages, work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as assigned.
 
Responsibilities

Reviews work orders, construction plans and/or schematic drawings of projects impacting City maintained CCTVs and explains work assignments to staff.

Assigns tasks, participates in work, and inspects work upon completion to ensure standards are maintained.

Requisitions materials and supplies in accordance with established guidelines.

May drive and operate bucket truck to install, repair and maintain CCTVs.

Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems with CCTV equipment; determines appropriate corrective measures, and prepares estimates of costs involved.

Perform other related duties as assigned.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices involved in the installation, repair and maintenance of CCTVs and related equipment.

Knowledge of the principles of electronics.

Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical specifications.

Ability to use standard and specialized testing devices to identify defects in electronic and networking devices (OTDRs, software, light source and meter, visual fault locator, voltmeter).

Ability to prepare cost estimates.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with police personnel, other City and County employees, contractors, and the general public.

Ability to effectively communicate clearly, concisely, orally, and in writing.

Ability to prepare written reports and maintain accurate records, both by hand and electronically.

Ability to move about safely and operate effectively in construction work sites while wearing applicable safety gear, being exposed to heights, confined areas, fumes, AC voltage wires, inclement weather, over fast-moving traffic, and other hazardous areas.

Ability to use or learn common computer devices and programs.

Ability to operate or learn to operate in and around a bucket truck.

Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds, climb, bend, and stoop.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as assigned.
