Job Description
|
|
Performs administrative work in planning, coordinating, and conducting the Fleet Management Program. Participates in the planning and organizing the work of a specialized group of employees responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of City of Orlando motor vehicles. Duties include training and scheduling of personnel at the direction of the Fleet Manager. May be assigned to manage one or more specialized programs. Work assignments require the exercise of initiative and independent judgment in organizing specialized maintenance and repair activities. Work is reviewed through observation, reports, conferences, performance evaluations, and counseling sessions. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision required. Ability to occasionally lift less than 30 lbs. required. Work is sometimes performed outdoors, and the employee is exposed to extreme heat, insects, and weather conditions. Some evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required based on Division needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows, and minimum one (1) year experience in the operation of a medium-to-large size vehicle or heavy equipment maintenance and repair facility; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) desired.

Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of the principles, rules, equipment requirements and organization of a wide variety of fleet activities.
Knowledge of public fleet principles and practices, policies and procedures, trends and methods.
Working knowledge of public relations principles and practices.
Working knowledge of effective supervisory techniques and office management.
Ability to schedule and instruct numerous activities.
Ability to prepare, justify and maintain a program budget.
Ability to conduct in-service training sessions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other employees, outside organizations, participants and the public.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing to both individuals and groups.
Ability to maintain records and submit oral and written reports.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
Ability to operate personal computer with word processing and budgeting software.

Under direction, assists in the preparation of a program budget.
Participates in fleet planning, research and evaluation.
Checks, schedules, maintains and oversees use of fleet facilities, equipment and supplies.
Analyzes and monitors fuel usage for city vehicles, fuel storage tank inspections, and acts as primary liaison with contracted fuel provider.
Assumes responsibility for all fuel related transactions: orders, cancels lost and/or stolen cards, replacement cards, and establishing new accounts as needed.
Reviews warrantable repair orders for completion and accuracy; processes, tracks, and monitors warranty transactions and payments; and performs internal audits.
Monitors factory recalls and/or technical service bulletins.
May be required to attend training as needed.
Analyzes, maintains, and monitors city owned electronic telematics systems and other implemented technologies.
Performs related work as required
