Job Description
|
|
Performs responsible skilled and supervisory work involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, plumbing, and air-conditioning and heating systems. Work performed requires considerable trade knowledge in the area of assignment(s). Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Division Manager. Performance is reviewed through conferences, periodic inspections of work, and performance of systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and four (4) or more years experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, plumbing, and heating and air-conditioning systems, some of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Master Level Competency Card in either electrical or plumbing trades or Class A Competency Card in the mechanical trade required. Some positions may be required to pass an annual respirator physical; no facial hair allowed between the face and sealing surface of the respirator face plate.
IRON BRIDGE FACILITYEmployees assigned to the Electrical Trades Maintenance Chief classification at this facility must obtain a valid Florida Class B CDL within one (1) year of hire.

Responsibilities

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Schedules, assigns, and reviews the work of several skilled plumbers, electricians or air-conditioning mechanics that perform a variety of skilled and specialized tasks.
Serves as technical advisor to Facilities Management Division Manager on issues involving the design or major modification of systems in area of assignment. Obtains all required permits.
Supervises and/or participates in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, plumbing, or heating and air-conditioning systems.
Ensures, through subordinate supervisors, that employees are trained in proper work methods, equipment operations, and safety practices; enforces safety rules and regulations.
Requisitions materials and supplies in accordance with established guidelines. Includes writing and reviewing job order contracts.
Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems; determines appropriate corrective measures, and prepares estimates of costs involved.
Participates in the design and/or modification of systems.
Participates in the selection, promotion, and/or discipline of staff.
Supports internal operations in the event of emergency, may include being on call 24 hours and working standby.
Performs other duties as assigned.
