Job Description
|
|
Performs first-level supervisory work involving the security operations of the Orlando Venues. Expected to exercise discretion and independent judgment while ensuring compliance with security procedures. Primary responsibilities include ensuring that all security assignments and protocols are followed; monitoring and reviewing security officer work; and assisting the Security Manager with establishing performance standards and personnel-related actions. Work is performed under the supervision of the Security Manager. Performance is reviewed through evaluation of surveillance reports, direct observation, discussions with management and patrons, and results obtained. Required to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and three (3) years security or law enforcement experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass background investigation which includes polygraph. Some lead or supervisory experience desired. CPR Certification and First Aid Card desired.

Supervises and trains officers on the daily operation of the Venues Security Office and related procedures/plan.
Assigns security officer shift duties.
Assists supervisor with personnel related actions, including employee selection and disciplinary actions.
Serves as initial point of contact for security officers and building staff on assigned shift.
Monitors closed circuit television activity and access control system.
Inspects security systems/equipment and reports problems to supervisor.
Monitors the ingress and egress activities at main security office.
Authorizes admittance to facility by issuing badges to employees and visitors.
Monitors fire alarm system.
Maintains computerized daily activity log for manager's review.
Makes and assigns the appropriate building security access badges.
Locks and/or unlocks access areas as requested in accordance with security procedures.
Monitors and takes action on shift to ensure the safety of the building and its occupants.
Asks questions of persons involved in suspicious activity; explains policies and solicits voluntary compliance; requests assistance of supervisor or sworn officer as needed.

Patrols facilities and adjacent grounds via foot and vehicle; performs frequent inspections to ensure theft, vandalism, and safety hazards are prevented.
May assist with crowd control during events.
Closes and opens streets for events.
Attends senior security meetings as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of safety and security practices/procedures.
Knowledge of basic life saving techniques (CPR and first aid).
Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to analyze facts, exercise sound judgment.
