Job Description
|
|
Performs responsible moderately clerical and data entry work reviewing fire incident and casualty reports, assigning codes and distributing reports to appropriate persons. Work is performed under close supervision and performance is reviewed while in progress and upon completion through direct observation, conferences, and review of reports submitted.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and three (3) years data input or records management experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Additional Qualifications for Promotion:
Promotions are not to be considered an automatic function of longevity and are subject to the review and authorization of the Supervisor. The employee’s last performance review must have resulted in an overall rating of Meets standards or better with no factor rating of less than meets.

Responsibilities

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Reviews various fire incident reports and/or internal investigative reports to ensure quality control standards maintained; processes acceptable reports by copying and distributing reports to appropriate offices. Determines proper Uniform Coding and assigns codes in accordance with established guidelines. Provides training in correct report writing for fire personnel during team meetings, academy classes and/or individual conferences. Reviews and compares complaint cards to original reports to locate missing reports and verify report numbers. Operates computer terminal to enter and retrieve information; complies data and prepares various reports needed for analytical purposes. Answers telephones and routes calls to correct personnel. Distributes and monitors accountability for payroll checks. Provides UFIRS data to citizens, insurance companies, arson investigation, State Fire Marshall's office, etc. Maintains motor transport fuel reports and orders fuel for apparatus and stations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of Fire Coding System.
Knowledge of fire policies and procedures governing quality control standards and processing of fire reports.
Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures. Ability to type 25 wpm.
Ability to interpret and assign proper codes.
Ability to operate various office machines such as calculator, computer terminal, and copiers.
Ability to verbally express ideas clearly and concisely
