Job Description
|
|
Performs supervisory work involving the preparation, change-over, and general maintenance of entertainment or convention facilities, grounds, and athletic fields. Responsible for the supervision of Crew Leaders, Entertainment Workers, and part-time seasonal personnel in a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks involving above-average physical effort, and operation of power tools and equipment requiring some manipulative skills and the ability to work without frequent supervision. Work is performed under the supervision of the Venues Operations Manager and reviewed while in progress and upon completion through direct observation, meetings, and review of work orders to ensure accuracy and completion. Required to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years maintenance experience in assigned area, one (1) year of which must have been in a lead or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Valid Florida CDL preferred.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Handles all direct report personnel scheduling.
Assists with plans, schedules and coordination of activities involving the physical preparation and change-over of the arena for events ranging in diversity from concerts, basketball games, hockey, exhibitions, ice shows, tractor pulls, trade shows and the circus.
Assists with the laying of floors, assembling and dismantling stages and platforms, laying ice, installing hockey system, etc. to ensure compliance with promoter specifications, safety procedures and required time guidelines.
Supervises activities of crew of workers.
Manages work orders, lays out and explains project assignments, resolves problems.
Inspects work while in progress and upon completion to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Estimates materials, supplies, and time needed to complete assignments.
Requisitions materials and supplies according to established guidelines.
Supervises the preparation of facility for various events by reviewing work orders and discussing requirements with Venues Operations Manager to ensure tables, chairs, display areas, stages, and equipment are properly arranged and set up and user needs are met in accordance with required production guidelines.
Assists Venues Operations Manager overseeing the Janitorial Services contractor.
Monitors performance in sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, shampooing or stripping, waxing, removal of graffiti, polishing of floors and fixtures to ensure facility is clean and safe, dusting, washing, and polishing of walls, rest rooms office furniture and equipment.
Ensures rest rooms stocked with soap, towels, and tissue and trash containers are emptied and properly cleaned.
Supervises the general maintenance tasks such as minor replacement of damaged ceiling tiles and repair of seats, etc.
Inspects tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure they're serviced and properly maintained (e.g. greasing, lubricating, cleaning, checking fluid levels, etc.).
Operates pick-up trucks, fork-lifts, and other equipment as needed to complete assignments.
May complete daily reports, log books and related records.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of procedures and requirements for banquets, trade shows, conventions, business meetings, inspection, maintenance, construction, repair and cleaning.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and skill in the use of cleaning chemicals and care of janitorial equipment and materials.
Knowledge of seating plans for correct house setup and concession duties at the auditorium.
Knowledge of safety rules and regulations related to facility maintenance operations and usage of chemicals.
Ability to operate forklift, genie lift, utility vehicle, floor scrubbers, buffers, floor strippers, high reach, and carpet cleaning equipment.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and moderately complex written instructions and maintain accurate records.
Ability to assign and direct the work of others.
Ability to make estimates of time and materials.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, and lifting.
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, often under hot and humid environmental conditions.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb and work from ladders or personnel/genie lift.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with co-workers, facility users and the general public.
Ability to read and understand sketches, diagrams, blueprints, maps and charts.
