Job Description
 
Performs skilled and first-line supervisory field work involving the maintenance, and repair of City of Orlando parking facilities and equipment. Work requires thorough knowledge of the building maintenance field; the ability to assign and direct work activities of several crews, including the meter repair shop; and the ability to resolve field problems, maintain records, and prepare reports. Work is performed under general supervision. Performance is reviewed while in progress and upon completion through conferences, inspections, and evaluation of completed work. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and four (4) years experience in the maintenance and repair of structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, access control equipment, or revenue/technology equipment, one (1) year of which must have been in a progressively responsible supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required.
 
Responsibilities

Supervises and participates in the work of several crews of maintenance workers, in the maintenance and repair of City parking facilities and equipment.

Receives work orders, blueprints, and/or schematic drawings of projects, priorities, coordinates and assigns work to crews.

Inspects work in progress and upon completion to ensure work is performed in accordance with department policies and standards.

Provides on-the-job training for employees regarding proper work methods, equipment operations, and safety practices; enforces safety rules and regulations.

Determines equipment, materials and supplies needed and procures items in accordance with established guidelines.

Coordinates the repair of parking meters, and transport employees to and from job sites.

Attends seminars and parking conferences relating to the maintenance of parking structural field.

Assists in the preparation of cost estimates for time and materials required; completes daily activity reports.

Performs other related duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of the methods and practices involved in installing, repairing and maintaining a variety of City parking facilities and mechanical equipment.

Knowledge of concrete restoration, water proofing methods, procedures and standards.

Knowledge of Orlando Parking Ordinances and applicable ADA rules and regulations.

Knowledge of mathematical principles as required by a general high school curriculum.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques.

Skill in the use and care of power tools and equipment.

Ability to read blueprints, drawings and technical specifications.

Ability to prepare cost estimates of time and materials.

Ability to coordinate the work of crews on several job assignments.

Ability to objectively interpret code requirements and related requirements.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and general public.

Ability to prepare written reports and maintain accurate records.

Ability to perform duties under adverse conditions such as inclement weather, on parking sites, being exposed to heights, confined areas, and fumes from chemicals.

Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
