|
Performs supervisory, skilled, and limited administrative work involving the maintenance of grounds, athletic fields, and landscaped areas, planting and maintenance of flower beds and plants, and/or general maintenance of community recreation facilities. Supervises the field activities of several crews. Work is usually performed under general supervision and reviewed while in progress and upon completion through direct observation, meetings, and review of work orders to ensure accuracy and completeness.
WASTEWATER: Performs skilled, supervisory, and limited administrative work involving the construction, renovation, modification, installation, televised inspection, and/or repair of wastewater collection systems. Oversees the field activities of skilled workers such as Heavy Equipment Operators, TV Equipment Operators, and Utility Service Workers. Work is performed under general supervision. Work is reviewed through direct observation and discussions while in progress and upon completion.
STREETS: Performs skilled, supervisory, and limited administrative work involving the work of sidewalk maintenance contracts. Responsible for ensuring that sidewalk work is completed and meets ADA requirements. Duties include supervising the work of contractors, reviewing and revising contracts, inspecting completed work, investigating requests for new sidewalks to determine feasibility, and assisting with immediate repairs if a tip/fall has been reported. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Streets and Drainage Assistant Division Manager. Work is reviewed through discussion while in progress, inspection of the job sites, and evaluation of work completed.
STORMWATER: Performs skilled, supervisory, and limited administrative work involving right-of-way maintenance, vehicular maintenance, and street sweeper maintenance. Responsible for ensuring the street sweepers. All vehicles within the Division are maintained daily and provide additional oversight with street sweeper and vacuum truck operations. Other duties include but are not limited to the daily supervision and operation of vehicles, overseeing the work of inlet and outlet crews, administration of pre-trip and post-trip inspection reports, overseeing the street sweeper maintenance contracts, coordinating parts and parts replacements, acting as a liaison between fleet and the Division, and tracking the maintenance and replacement of each vehicle. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Streets and Stormwater Assistant Division Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and four (4) years of landscape maintenance, general facility, or grounds maintenance experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a lead or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The following licenses and/or certifications may be required, depending on the area of assignment: valid Florida Driver's License or CDL, Florida Public Applicator's Restricted Pesticide License with Right of Way, Ornamental, and Turf Endorsements (required within three (3) months of hire), Limited Florida State Pesticide Application License (required within six (6) months of hire).
WASTEWATER: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and five (5) years of experience in wastewater utility construction, maintenance, and repair activities, two (2) years of which must have been in a lead or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Florida Class B CDL required. GOAA Secure Area Access I.D. badge required within ninety (90) days of hire. Wastewater Collection C Certification preferred.
STREETS: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and three (3) years of experience in Public Works right-of-way infrastructure maintenance or contract maintenance, two (2) years of which must have been in a lead or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Valid Florida Driver's License unrestricted required. National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Erosion & Sediment certification and Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) or Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification required. American Concrete Institute (ACI) Level I certification required within one (1) year of employment. Level I Concrete certification preferred.
STORMWATER: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and three (3) years of experience in Public Works right-of-way infrastructure maintenance or contract maintenance, two (2) years of which must have been in a lead or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Class E Driver's License required. Valid Florida CDL preferred.

Reviews work orders, organizes, coordinates and directs field activities of several crews engaged in construction, repair, and maintenance of baseball, softball, soccer, and other types of athletic fields; explains project requirements and deadlines, resolves problems, and inspects work while in progress and upon completion to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Determines equipment, materials and supplies needed for projects and
Instructs employees in proper work methods, safety and equipment operation; counsels as needed to improve performance.
Oversees the layout and planting of flowers and other plant materials according to blueprints and work orders using knowledge of various horticultural procedures and practices; ensures herbicides, mulch and water are applied properly.
Directs the cleaning of sidewalks, awnings, buildings and other recreation facilities using pressure cleaners.
Oversees and participates in preparation of facility for events to ensure tables, chairs, and equipment are set up, cleaned, and stored as instructed.
May operate forklift, pick up truck, tractors, road graders, riding mowers and related equipment as needed to complete assignments.
Directs and/or assists with sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, shampooing or stripping, waxing, and polishing of floors using scrubbers, buffers, carpet cleaners, and related janitorial equipment.
Assigns and maintains quality control of custodial tasks to ensure windows, walls, rest rooms and office furniture and equipment are properly maintained. Ensures rest rooms stocked with soap, towels, and tissue and trash containers are emptied and properly cleaned.
May perform general maintenance tasks such as minor painting, replacement of damaged ceiling tiles and light bulbs, furniture repair, etc; may repair water mains, sprinkler heads, valves and meters.
Supervises routine grounds maintenance activities such as mowing and edging lawns, planting and trimming hedges in parks, athletic fields and other recreation facilities using riding and/or push mowers and other hand and power tools; may assist with the installation of irrigation systems.
Inspects tools, vehicles, and equipment to ensure they're serviced and properly maintained (e.g. greasing, lubricating, cleaning, checking fluid levels, etc.).
Maintains production records, completes daily reports of work accomplishments, field conditions, problems encountered, etc.
Investigates and prepares reports of employee injuries and damage to equipment.
Participates in the selection, training, and appraisal of employees; may initiate personnel actions such as discipline, promotion, special recognition, etc.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
WASTEWATER
Reviews work orders, organizes and coordinates field activities of crews involved in the installation of sewer lines and extensions of various types and sizes; directs the preparation of surface elevations, selection and sizing of pipe, and ensures joints and connections are properly sealed.
Supervises and participates in the construction of manholes and other wastewater structures reviews project lay-out to ensure dimensions are correct; inspects work upon completion for accuracy.
Supervises and participates in the repair of sewer and storm lines through replacement or slip-lining; locates and excavates area of damaged line and replaces or relines appropriate area.
Completes daily reports of work accomplishments, field conditions, and problems encountered; participates in project planning and preparation of work schedules.
May operate bobcats, back hoes, pick up trucks, pumps, compressors, air hammers, pipe saws, and other equipment incidental to the construction, repair and installation of sewer lines and manholes.
Instructs workers and demonstrates proper work methods, safety, and equipment operation; counsels employees as needed to improve job performance.
Determines equipment, materials, and supplies required for each project and procures items in accordance with established procedures.
Participates in the selection and appraisal of employee performance; may initiate disciplinary action.
Performs related work as required.
STREETS AND STORMWATER:
Reviews and revises sidewalk work contracts, explains project requirements and deadlines, resolves problems

Meets daily with Contractors to monitors the progress and work quality of several crews engaged in construction, repair, and maintenance of sidewalks.
Inspects work while in progress and upon completion to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Investigates request for new sidewalk to determine feasibility.
Assists with immediate repairs if a trip/fall has been reported.
Marks locations to be ground, removed, and/or replaced.
Generates work orders
Measures the complete work with Contractor and provides assistance I generating an invoice.
Reviews/approves invoices
Enters, or coordinates entry of, work orders for each location when work is completed in the Public Works asset management software.
May operate forklift, pickup truck, tractors, or related equipment as needed to complete assignments.
Completes daily reports of work accomplished
Performs related work as required.
