Special Operations:
Performs responsible enforcement work and office duties ensuring compliance with applicable City of Orlando codes, ordinances, and regulations. Assigned to the Special Operations of the Orlando Police Department (OPD) and is responsible for enforcing Chapter 55 dealing with taxicabs and other "vehicles for hire" in addition to Chapter 6 dealing with horse-drawn carriages. Work is performed independently. Inspections require the employee to make decisions requiring use of judgement and discretion. An employee assigned to this classification must use their own vehicle during inspections. Results are reviewed through conferences and examination of completed documents.
Airport Operations:
Performs responsible enforcement work and office duties ensuring compliance with applicable City of Orlando codes, ordinances, and regulations. Assigned to the Airport Division under the Deputy Division Commander of the Orlando Police Department (OPD) and is responsible for enforcing Chapter 55 dealing with taxicabs and other "vehicles for hire." Work is performed independently. During inspections, the employee is expected to make sound decisions utilizing their judgment and discretion. Results are reviewed through conferences and examination of completed documents.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate with two to three (2-3) years experience in the enforcement of policies, codes, or ordinances, or conducting field inspections; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's Licence required. Must pass police background investigation which includes polygraph.
Additional Qualifications for Promotion:
Promotions are not to be considered an automatic function of longevity and are subject to the review and authorization of the Supervisor. The employee’s last performance review must have resulted in an overall rating of Meets standards or better with no factor rating of less than meets.
