Job Description
|
|
Performs responsible clerical, administrative, manual labor, and accounting tasks related to the purchase, receipt, storage, issuance, and inventory of uniforms, supplies, services, and sensitive equipment (such as weapons, ammunition, Tasers, radios, body armor, and ballistic shields used by the Orlando Police Department). Work also includes filling in as the department Mail/Courier Clerk and transporting sensitive documents. Work involves driving a Ford F250 truck with lift-gate and Ford E250 Cargo Van. Work will involve the operation of equipment utilized for loading, unloading, and moving supplies. Work is performed under general supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years inventory/warehousing experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass background check which includes polygraph. Experience working with purchasing and inventory control software and processing invoices highly desired.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Issues excess and confiscated equipment. Initiates Inventory Control Form and maintains inventory.
Contacts department custodians as requested by supervisor to deliver or pick up assets up to 50+ lbs..
Participates in annual inventories of capital assets. Physically tags equipment for control purposes.
Composes memoranda to department heads on loss and/or misplacement of fixed assets.
Maintains stock; keeps storage areas organized and clean.
Receives confiscated and surplus property for issue or sale.
Maintains records incident to the procurement, inventory, receipt and issuance of excess property and equipment.
Organizes and participates in the taking of physical inventory City wide.
Inspects items received against detailed list of confiscated equipment. Lifting 50+ lbs.
Operates forklift and related warehouse equipment to include heavy duty trucks, tractors, cars, motorcycles for vehicle/equipment sales.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of storage and inventory control methods and procedures.
Ability to keep stock records and prepare reports.
Skilled in the performance of minor work on associated equipment.
Skilled in the operation of forklifts and other warehouse equipment, including automotive.
Knowledge of practices and procedures employed in the storage and issuance of excess materials and supplies.
Thorough knowledge of inventory maintenance and control including bar code.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Knowledge of English, spelling, arithmetic, office practices and procedures.
Ability to store, issue and deliver equipment and material as well as conducting inventory which involves moderate physical exertion, such as constantly lifting up to 20 lbs., standing for long periods, bending, stooping, reaching, transporting and constant walking.
Ability to communicate effectively with other employees, general public and supervisors.
