Job Description
|
|
Performs technical, administrative, and supervisory work involving the maintenance operations of a treatment plant. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical, electronic, and mechanical machinery and equipment. Responsible for the procurement and inventory control of all supplies, materials, and equipment, in addition to the cleanliness and upkeep of all buildings, fences, and grounds. Work is performed under the supervision of the Treatment Plant Manager. Performance is reviewed from an overall standpoint through conferences, evaluations of reports submitted, and results obtained.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and Four (4) or more years of documented experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment, preferably in the area of pumps, engines, electric switch gear and electric motors, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, . Class B CDL desired. Valid Florida Driver's License and home phone or cell phone required.

Plans, develops, organizes, schedules, and administers comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and repair programs for treatment plant machinery and equipment; directs and monitors, through subordinate supervisors, the activities of employees engaged in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, masonry, painting, and carpentry work.
Recommends work to be performed by outside contractors including preparing specifications, drawings, and related documents required for competitive bidding; monitors contractors work in progress and inspects and on occasion approves payment requests.
Supervises and participates in the maintenance of records, preparation of various reports.
Directs, controls, and participates in the procurement and storage of all maintenance-related chemicals, tools, parts, material, and equipment utilized at treatment facility.
Develops and implements work performance and safety standards, policies and procedures; approve work schedules; sets priorities; inspects work while in progress and upon completion.
Attends various meetings and preplanning conferences for major plant renovations and other projects.
Selects, trains, and counsels employees; evaluates work performance, determines appropriate rewards; administers disciplinary actions as needed.
Participates in the development and negotiation of contracts with vendors for the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems requiring specialized expertise; monitors contracts to ensure contractual compliance.
Reviews periodic analytical reports on production making changes and adjustments as needed to attain desired goals and level of production; formulates operating policies and procedures and establishes work standards; provides input data for fiscal year work calendar relative to the maintenance management program.
Prepares annual budget to include projected maintenance and repair cost on all equipment in the current inventory, planned special funded projects and contractual services; maintains a current inventory of structures.
conducts periodic inspection of facilities and equipment to determine maintenance and repair needs.
Responds to on-call emergencies as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of the maintenance aspect of various mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment, such as pumps, engines, valves, electric switch-gear, and motors.
Thorough knowledge of preventive maintenance programs for electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems.
Basic understanding and knowledge of operating procedures of a water reclamation facility.
Basic understanding knowledge of various chemicals utilized in a water reclamation facility.
Knowledge of managerial principles and practices.
Ability to effectively and efficiently provide day-to-day direction and guidance to members of the facilities maintenance staff.
Ability to perform inspections which involve standing, walking, and climbing.
Ability to work in and around all types of weather, noxious odors, moving equipment, vehicles, gases, heat, and chemicals.
Ability to plan, schedule, and oversee complex maintenance projects.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
