Job Description
 
Performs responsible administrative work related to the Extra Duty employment program. An employee assigned to this position is responsible for coordinating, and monitoring extra duty employment, working with prospective individuals and organizations providing program information to staff for events with public safety personnel. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with established procedures and reviewed while in process and results obtained.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's Degree and one (1) year of experience of data entry and data tracking; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience with generating reports, negotiating contracts and event planning preferred. A valid Florida Driver's License is required. Must pass police background investigation which includes a polygraph examination. May be required to become a Public Notary.
 
Responsibilities
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Knowledge of department policies and procedures, and City ordinances, and best practices.

Knowledge of Union agreement as it pertains to Extra Duty.

Working knowledge of Law Enforcement Operations or Fire Safety when assigned to that department. 

Knowledge of public record request governing Extra Duty records.

Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

Skill in the use of business English, spelling, grammar, math, office practices and procedure.

Skill in the operation of personal computers and the use Microsoft Office Suite software, telephone system, calculator, copier machine, fax machines, scanner, and driving an automobile.

Skill in organization and time management.

Ability to deal with non-routine matters such as assigning, receiving and completing complex work.

Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously

Ability to operate a personal computer for extended periods of time. 

Ability to proofread documentation and identify errors.

Ability to work independently on complex and confidential assignments.

Ability to compose correspondence, write reports, and procedures manual.

Ability to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English. 

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with City employees, managers, representatives of businesses, organizations, individuals and other agencies, City employees.

Ability to work with other city departments in regards to Extra Duty program. 


EXAMPLE OF WORK PERFORMED:

Administers and coordinates the Extra-duty Program by departmental policies and bargaining agreements.

Maintains a current list of eligible sworn personnel available for extra duty assignment.

Communicates with potential businesses, organizations, and individuals by providing information regarding the Extra Duty program to determine staffing needs.

Posts and monitors Extra Duty employment opportunities in the Cover Your Own Asset (CYOA) software program.

Services as an administrator for the CYOA software, trains personnel and makes changes in the program when needed.

Ensures that extra duty assignments are staffed.

Creates reports for the supervisor

Invoices customers for payment of extra duty work.

Verifies hours worked by personnel and submits hours to payroll for payment

Attends meetings.

Serves in a lead capacity when required.

May be responsible for assigning off-duty (Osar) radion numbers to utilize during assigned details or Officer safety.

Performs other duties as assigned.
