Job Description

|
Performs supervisory work, providing leadership to the Venues Security Department. Works with public safety, traffic agencies, transportation agencies, staff, and contractors in planning and implementing the most effective and efficient strategies in support of each event. Responsibilities include developing and implementing policies, procedures, and plans to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests, clients, and employees; developing the program budget; authorizing expenditures and payroll; and managing personnel assigned to the program, hiring, scheduling, discipline, and training. Working is performed under the general direction of the Venues Guest Services Division Manager. Performance is reviewed while in progress through meetings and accomplishment of objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years responsible security or law enforcement experience, one (1) year of which must have been in hospitality, event services, or public assembly; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Plans, coordinates, and directs safety and security operations for events held at the Amway Center, Camping World Stadium, Leu Gardens, and Mennello Museum.
Facilitates and assesses each event to determines security requirements and staffing needs to ensure adequate protection of the facilities, promoters, and guests.
Consults with personnel in Orlando Venues, Orlando Police Department, Orlando Fire Department, Traffic and Transportation Planning and various other City departments to plan, coordinate and schedule required activities for events to include any traffic and transportation issues or needs.
Supervises parking activities at various downtown and stadium parking lots.
Monitors security and crowd control activities during events to ensure compliance with policies and procedures; responds to questions and complaints and resolves problems with personnel and/or patrons.
Prepares documentation for event staffing, payroll, and duty assignments for events; reviews and approves the payment of invoices for contracted security services, uniforms, equipment, etc.
Develops and deliver written documentation pertaining to safety and security plans for small, medium, and large events as well as the normal day to day operation of the facility including a Public Safety Policy Manual.
Oversees security operational training standards including the dissemination and implantation of the latest technology as well as employee training and development.
Manages and maintains the OV employee identification and access control systems.
Leads regular event security and venue safety briefings with internal and external stakeholders.
Conducts routine industry operation review: recommend modifications to the OV security and safety programs, policies and procedures as deemed appropriate.
Develops security and crowd control programs and procedures for the Orlando Venues to effectively guard/protect property and patrons from illegal/unauthorized entry, theft, vandalism, acts of violence or other undesirable activity; works closely with the City's Office of Legal Affairs and Risk Management.
Researches and recommends security systems and equipment.
Inspects and directs inspections of facilities to identify and correct security and safety related violations.
Leads the Security Division as a user of numerous software systems under the Security Department and throughout the Venues Department.
Assesses, develops, and oversees the execution of security strategies and plans as required for the OV to secure the building perimeters, access points, staff work areas, command center and loading dock of each venue.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of safety and security practices and procedures as they relate to public facilities.
Knowledge of local and/or state regulations governing security of public assembly facilities.
Knowledge of basic life saving techniques (CPR and first aid).
Knowledge of effective managerial principles, practices and techniques.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to make sound logical decisions in accordance with established policies.
Ability to work independently without frequent supervision.
Ability to enforce rules in a tactful diplomatic manner.
Ability to develop and implement security programs.
Ability to plan and prepare work schedules for multiple shifts.
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time and operate patrol vehicle.
