Job Description

|
Performs responsible managerial and administrative work planning, coordinating, and directing set-up operations for events held at the Orlando Venues KIA Center. Develops operating policies and procedures. Consults and provides advice regarding set-up requirements. Participates in event planning meetings. Coordinates and directs general operation and maintenance activities through subordinate supervisors. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Venues Deputy Chief Venues Officer. Performance is reviewed through conferences, reports submitted, and results obtained. Required to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field plus three (3) years experience in the public assemblies industry in a supervisory or management position; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Schedules and coordinates activities involving the physical preparation of the arena for all events, including attending meetings with city personnel and building clients concerning their event. Oversees operation activities during the events.
Inspects and evaluates arena for safety and cleanliness.
Coordinate all subcontractors in the preparation, cleaning, maintenance and safety systems used in the building and grounds.
Plans, schedules and coordinates activities involving the physical preparation and changeover of the arena for events ranging in diversity from concerts, and exhibitions, to ice capades, tractor pulls, trade shows, basketball games and circuses.
Directs the laying of floors, assembling and dismantling stages and platforms, laying ice, installing hockey dashers, and protective glass etc. to ensure compliance with promoter specifications, safety procedures, and required time guidelines.
Inspects and evaluates the condition of facility to ensure it is clean, safe, and equipment is in proper working order for users as well as general public. Coordinates all repairs and related corrective measures with the maintenance manager.
Develops work schedules, prioritizes and assigns work to ensure all promoter requirements are met in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
Maintains a complete inventory of equipment. Authorizes the procurement of tools, materials, and supplies as needed.
Formulates service contract requirements and participates in the development and evaluation of bid specifications.
Monitors the work of outside contractors that provide cleaning, elevator maintenance, fire protection maintenance and related operational services.
Reviews technical papers, catalogues, and other reference materials to keep abreast of current setup operations in respective area; recommends new supplies and/or methods as necessary to improve operations.
Initiates and recommends such personnel actions as hiring, disciplining, counseling, training, promotion and pay increases.
Participates in the development and administration of annual budget.
Maintains records relating to attendance, activities performed, equipment usage, etc; prepares and submits various reports.
Directs the development of preventive maintenance programs and long range planning sessions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of setup and tear downs of different types of events is necessary.
Knowledge of mechanical and technical systems including elevators, air conditioning/chillers.
Knowledge of ice making and its equipment.
Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
Knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials used in operations and maintenance of an entertainment facility.

Knowledge of stage equipment, including rigging, lighting, sound, and electrical systems.
Knowledge of the making, painting, surfacing, tempering and removal of ice for ice shows and/or hockey games.
Knowledge of sound reinforcement principles and equipment.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to building maintenance work.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Ability to operate multiple types of equipment.
Ability to make quick decisions and handle crisis.
Ability to make mechanical repairs and replacements.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and lift heavy objects and operate various tools and equipment such as forklift, tractor, buffer, Hi Reach.
Ability to review and comprehend complex stage and floor setup plans.

Ability to plan and schedule work and supervise various activities.
