|
Performs professional work in coordinating the city’s digital communications under the direction of the Digital Communications Supervisor. An employee assigned to this position assists in creating the strategy for content creation across the city’s digital platforms; trains departmental communications coordinators to develop digital content that ensures brand and digital strategy compliance; and collaborates with creative and technical teams to provide innovative digital communications across all platforms that connect residents to the city. Supports digital projects including website enhancements, email campaigns and social media. Assists with maintaining, monitoring, and optimizing social media channels on a daily basis, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. driving engagement with city content across channels, including the website and social media. Works closely with key stakeholders and city departments to implement the city’s communications strategy to deliver information, services, and engage citizens via social, mobile and digital technologies. Work requires independent judgment and the ability to work alone and as a member of the team. This position is also responsible for the front-end development, design and maintenance of HTML microsites. Performance is reviewed through observation and client feedback. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Advertising, Public Relations, Communications or Information Technology, or related field with at least two (2) years of content management experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience in marketing, journalism or writing preferred. Experience with Adobe Suite preferred.

Coordinates content of City’s internal and external digital platforms
Works with City departments to ensure city’s digital presence ensuring consistency of appearance, functionality, security and conformance to policies and style guidelines.
Maintains cooperative working relationships with other departments, agencies, contractors, and the public to develop strategic and tactical plans to facilitate and improve the delivery of city services.
Assists in the collection, prioritization of the internal website enhancements and upgrades in conjunction with the digital services team in Information Technology.
Assists in the development of standards, systems, processes, policies and best practices for content creation, distribution and management.
Maintains open communications with stakeholders by utilizing committee and department liaisons.
Stays abreast of digital industry trends and emerging technology including digital presence, open data, and service delivery innovations and approaches.
Trains staff on the use of content management system for simple content updates. Ensure conformance to strategic communication objectives.
Assists in the planning, development and implementation of various web features that meet the needs and interests of the City’s communication and organizational goals, project goals, user needs, or industry standards.
Assists with monitoring and evaluating city social media accounts.
Ensures a consistent brand and voice is used across social media channels.
Creates and posts compelling social media content that engages followers.
Monitors social media traffic and respond with appropriate consultation from city departments.
Proofreads and edit content to ensure messages are coherent and reinforce strategic communications plans and adhere to city standards.
Responds to requests and inquiries from city staff and the general public.
Handles live web video streaming for City Council meetings, Mayor’s speeches and other live events.
Provides direction to the Spanish web coordinator, including making assignments an monitoring workload for the position.
Coordinates the Office of Communications and Neighborhood Relations technical project implementations with consultants, clients an Information Technology.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the principles, practices and programs related to the use of digital asset and content management systems
Knowledge of responsive web design, website content development and website editing
Knowledge of internet functioning and architecture including web security protocols
Knowledge of modern marketing and communications techniques
Knowledge of best practices in web and visual design
Knowledge of current emerging software tools, languages techniques and software packages.
Knowledge of effective visual and user-driving navigation
Knowledge in analytics and data trends for content
Knowledge of keyword development and best practices in search engine optimization

Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations pertaining to government use of electronic communications.
Knowledge of principles and practices of contracts and vendor administration
Knowledge of modern web languages, including HTML5, CSS3, and jquery
Skilled in managing and using websites, content management systems, intranet sites, social media sites, and digital media technologies.
Skilled in creating and implementing communication plans, including the development and/or implementation and integration of digital communication strategies.
Skilled in use and potential of web-based and social media platforms, including writing/editing text for web
Skilled in website design and social media engagement techniques to drive engagement
Skilled in monitoring and evaluating digital communications
Skilled in training methods, technologies and presentations
Skilled in producing and delivering clear, concise messages in a variety of digital platforms including web, email, blogs, social media, etc.
