Job Description
|
|
Performs professional and supervisory work under general direction. Oversees technical staff involved in industrial automation, electrical computer-aided design, power generation, and power distribution for the Wastewater Division. Oversees and reviews the electrical design and implementation of all Wastewater improvement projects. Is responsible for the preparation of detailed specifications and standards from which electrical projects are designed. Recommends improvements to electrical and automation; identifies and resolves problems; defines project scope and objectives; oversees Section budget; and provides training and guidance to staff. Work is reviewed by the Industrial Automation Manager at routine intervals to identify goals, direction, progress, and potential problems.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in engineering-related field, related supervisory experience, and at least one (1) year hands-on experience developing and implementing industrial automation tasks or projects; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Journeyman Electrical License required. Master Electrician License desired.

Supervises and provides general direction and priorities to technical staff involved in industrial automation, electrical computer aided design, power generation, and power distribution for the Wastewater Division; performs associated administrative work.
Oversees and reviews the electrical design and implementation of all Wastewater improvement projects.
Prepares and maintains detailed specifications from which electrical projects are designed.
Works with contractors and City staff on job sites to review compliance of work with national and local codes, ordinances, safety rules, and electrical standards.
Provides training and equipment to IAG staff to maintain compliance with NFPA70E Standards for Electrical Safety in the workplace.
Ensures that safety practices are being followed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of medium and low voltage components.
Knowledge of industrial automation.
Knowledge of national and local codes.
Knowledge of ordinances.
Knowledge of safety rules and electrical standards.
Knowledge of automation systems related to water reclamation facilities and lift stations.
Skilled in the review of electrical design documents.
Skilled in the use of tact when responding to questions and issues by personnel and when identifying and resolving problems.
Skilled in defining project scope and objectives.
Skilled in providing training and guidance to staff.
Ability to observe various conditions and situations in water reclamation facilities and lift stations and to identify improvement needs.
Ability to apply knowledge of equipment and components to electrical distribution, power generation, and automation systems.
Ability to recommend modifications to improve reliability of the electrical and automation systems.
