Job Description
|
|
Performs administrative and professional work related to developing the City of Orlando’s community sustainability and operational improvement programs. Develops and manages projects, policies, and programs to improve the effectiveness of the City’s community sustainability and operational improvement programs, with a specific emphasis on recycling, operational efficiency and effectiveness, and other priorities outlined in the Green Works Municipal and Community Action Plans. Serves as the key advisor to the Sustainability Director or Division Manager on community-facing sustainability and operational improvement programs. Work is performed under the supervision of the Sustainability Director or Division Manager. Performance is reviewed periodically through both formal and informal meetings and reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Sustainability, or Business Administration or equivalent and four (4) years experience in sustainability; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required.

Ensures the city makes progress on the Green Works Orlando initiatives, which may include leading projects or aspects of their plan, managing stakeholder engagement, drafting documents and materials, giving presentations, and performing data analysis.
Develops programs to improve operational efficiency, effectiveness and quality of service. Works with the community to increase participation.

Maintains a detailed work plan describing the objectives, goals, and responsibilities for the project, and acts on that work plan.
Seeks funding in the form of grants, CIP, and annual budget requests.
Develops and manages strong relationships within the city government and key stakeholders and partners in the community.
Manages the City of Orlando efforts with stakeholders and partners at the local, regional, and national levels, as needed. Stakeholders may include academic partners, regional energy efficiency organizations, nonprofits or other companies, and federal agencies.
Provides appropriate reports to leadership.
Plans and oversees training for both internal and external City staff regarding waste diversion efforts.
Procures, implements, and maintains both hardware and software integral to operations, data tracking, and reporting.
Performs other duties as assigned.
