Job Description
 
Performs paraprofessional and system support work for the Public Safety administrative functions (OFD, OPD). Coordinates projects that involve multiple functional areas. Assists in streamlining, documenting, auditing, and testing processes. Supports the integration, operation, data integrity, and maintenance of automated information systems and databases, including records management, computer aided dispatch (CAD), mobile operations, and all supporting systems. Trains staff and assists field personnel in initiation of transactions and other system issues and assists in the creation and revision of departmental policies and procedures in OPD and OFD. Work is performed under the general supervision of Information Technology (IT) management and the IT Public Safety Administrator. Work is reviewed through discussions, reports submitted, and independent audits.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and at least (4) years experience working with current National Emergency Number Association (NENA) standards, police and/or fire Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), or records systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must pass police background investigation.

Aligns the product road map and deliverables with Public Safety objective and focus area.

Trains staff on new business functionality.

Assists in creating and revising departmental policies and procedures in OPD and OFD.

Assists in streamlining, documenting, auditing and testing processes.

Serves as first line of contact from business users experiences errors or needing assistance executing the software correctly.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of current NENA standards, Police and Fire Computer Aided dispatch, Records and other public safety standards and solutions.

Knowledge of ITIL practices for the handling of project functions such as project requests, documentation, coordinating, change management as it relates to Public Safety projects.

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Ability to support administrative technical functions related to records management, computer aided dispatch (CAD), Mobile unit functions, state reporting, staff training, and adherence to City policies.

Ability to exercise good judgment, when prioritizing work assignments.

Ability to work effectively with diverse work groups and with staff and co-workers at all levels of management.
