Job Description
 
Performs responsible professional, technical, and supervisory work involving the operations and maintenance of all the engineering aspects of the Orlando Venues facilities and utility service support systems. Supervises and performs all repairs and troubleshooting to the buildings' HVAC system, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration system. Must have a thorough working understanding of the energy management system and the ice-making equipment. Serves as show electrician. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Orlando Venues Facility Manager. Performance is reviewed through consultation, meetings, and results obtained. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with strong background in Mechanical Engineering plus four (4) or more years experience in physical plant maintenance, to include three (3) years related supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience. Alternatively, an applicant may have graduated from an accredited vocational school with an emphasis in Industrial Engineering and possess six (6) or more years experience in physical plant maintenance, to include three (3) years related supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience in pneumatics, electrical high and low control voltages, air conditioning and refrigeration, and building maintenance required. Universal refrigeration certification required. Preference given to experience in similar public facilities.
 
Responsibilities
 
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Maintains closed atmospheric control systems, electrical installations, operation of the energy management system, plumbing and motorized seating system.

Plans, supervises, directs and exercises general supervision over employees and contractors engaged in a wide variety of facility engineering maintenance and operation tasks.

Supervises the facilities engineering work involving the operation, maintenance and repair of the engineering and utility services support systems.

Develops and implements energy conservation programs and programs for routine maintenance and repair of all systems.

Supervises the overall coordination of utility installation required of users of the Arena.

Participates in preparation of facilities engineering annual operating budget.

Possesses a working knowledge of facility (BAS) Building Automation Systems and HVAC systems.

Monitors and analyzes facility water treatment program.

Oversees preventive maintenance and operational checks of all units.

Works irregular hours as dictated by event preparation and facility utilization.

Coordinates with users in building as to their requirements in atmospheric conditions in the various areas in power distribution including Magic, Orlando Food Partners, the maintenance subcontractor, and others.

Works with other departments to maintain customer service standards sufficient to ensure a positive and professional image and generate repeat business as well as generate new business.

Supervise the repair of the life safety systems, mechanical systems and emergency generators of the facility.

Accommodates center guests and provide support to all building staff, as needed.

Coordinates emergency responses as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of systems, Building Automation Systems and related HVAC systems.

Knowledge of facility electrical systems to include stage lighting, public address systems and similar systems for the Arena.

Knowledge of an energy management system, plumbing and extractable seating system.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions.

Skill in the operation of equipment and power tools required to perform duties, such as high reach, forklift.

Ability to plan, supervise and direct the activities through subordinates.

Ability to develop and implement energy conservation programs.

Ability to supervise utility installations required for clients.

Ability to establish effective working relationships with users of the facility.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to work around high electrical voltage.

Ability to inspect, repair and test various electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems which involves climbing, bending, stooping, working in awkward positions, under noisy conditions, using dangerous chemicals, lifting of heavy equipment, and working at extreme heights.

Ability to work irregular hours as required for event preparation and facility utilization.

Skilled in the use of computerized maintenance programs.
