Job Description
|
|
Performs technical work coordinating activities necessary to produce final surveys for the signature and seal of the City Surveyor. Work requires considerable knowledge of surveying methods, equipment, and techniques used in the measurement/determination of evaluations, distances, land boundaries, and other features of the earth's surface. Primary duties include developing scope of work for survey projects; processing field data; assigning and reviewing survey work to ensure that accurate data is obtained; reviewing plans for conformity during the development process; and ensuring surveys are sufficient. Work is reviewed through conferences, reports submitted, and results obtained.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in related field plus four (4) years land survey experience as a Party Chief; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Valid State of Florida Professional Surveyor and Mapper License required. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 or newer preferred.

Reviews surveying and mapping products for compliance with Florida Statutes, Administrative Codes, and Local Ordinances.
Review and approves of surveying and mapping products prepared by City staff.
Research and locate survey field data for new projects.
Coordinate plat submissions and check land records.
Coordinate final surveying and mapping products for certification by the City Surveyor.
Maintain official City horizontal and vertical control point database for use by Central Florida Surveyors and Mappers.
Maintain and archive final surveys for future use.
Maintain survey services official web site.
Maintain benchmark database.
Review as-built surveys on behalf of the City Surveyor to check for inconsistencies with what is constructed and ensures what is submitted is sufficient for the payment application.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of principles, practices, techniques, and instruments used in surveying.
Knowledge of legal principles affecting surveying work.
Knowledge of mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
Knowledge of work hazards and applicable safety precautions.
Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems and how they work.
Skill in use and care of surveying instruments and equipment.
Ability to interpret the work of others.
Ability to evaluate the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
Ability to accurately record, organize, and maintain.
Ability to plan, assign, direct, and evaluate the work of others.
Ability to communicate complex ideas and information verbally and in writing.
Ability to use personal computer and advanced hand held calculators to process raw survey data and perform complex calculations.
Ability to accurately record, organize, and maintain survey data.
Ability to perform CAD.
Ability to operate all survey instruments.
