Job Description
 
Performs responsible professional work, ensuring the quality management process for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) System within the Orlando Fire Department. Assists with the implementation and administration of the Continuous Quality Improvement Program (CQIP) initiatives. Assist the Lieutenant Logistics Officer in coordinating, researching, scheduling maintenance, and training for existing and newly acquired EMS equipment. Manages equipment and controlled substances using appropriate inventory control software and processes. Responsible for participating in logistics planning sessions and providing weekly, monthly, and annual reports on the overall effectiveness of the inventory control and loss processes. Duties are performed under the general direction of the Emergency Medical Services Assistant Chief.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's Degree and two (2) years administrative experience in warehousing, property control, materials management, or related area; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Certified EMT or Paramedic desired. Experience in the pre-hospital or hospital setting highly desired.
 
Responsibilities

Procures equipment and materials used for the delivery of Emergency Medical Services.

Coordinates times, dates, and location of materials delivery.

Ensures materials are ordered from the current contracted vendors and delivered at the contract price; and research lowest bid price from vendors when no contract exists.

Maintains optimum level of supplies and materials

inspects supplies and storage area

Maintains records both electronically and on paper

Acts as property custodian

Provides oversight and guidance of electronic stocking and tracking systems

Ordering, stocking and oversight of inventory

Coordinates and schedules maintenance

Makes recommendations on system improvements

Oversees schedule of narcotics including disposal

Oversees troubleshooting of electronic tracking sloutions

Performs other related duties as assigned


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of the principles of supervision

Knowledge of statistical record keeping practices

Knowledge of standard EMS operations

Knowledge of supply chain management

Knowledge of the law, rules and regulations controlling EMS operations

Knowledge of computers and their applications with specific emphasis on current Departmental patient care software

Skilled in the operation of a personal computer, its software and hardware

Skilled in dealing with the public and Fire personnel effectively and efficiently

Skilled in presenting work reports to upper management effectively both orally and in writing

Skilled in teaching and reemphasizing concepts, skills and training

Ability to apply supervisory principles to work problems

Ability to develop work procedures

Ability to maintain records and to prepare reports of tabulations for such records

Ability to make decisions in accordance with rules, regulations, and established policies and procedures

Ability to provide information correctly and concisely both orally and in writing


Ability to remain calm and provide effective instruction and direction

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, medical facility staff, other professional external stakeholders and general public.
