Job Description
 
Performs professional, administrative, and supervisory work in the area of property control. Primary responsibilities include supervising Quartermaster Unit staff; maintaining the inventory control system; receiving, storing, and issuing supplies and equipment; and disposing and distributing supplies, surplus and obsolete equipment. Work is performed under the general direction of the Police Support Services Manager. Performance is reviewed through inspections, discussions and analysis of reports submitted.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's Degree and two (2) years administrative/supervisory experience in property control or materials management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass police background investigation which includes polygraph.
 
Responsibilities

Supervises, schedules, trains and evaluates subordinate Police Property personnel.

Oversees the purchase of goods and services to maintain sufficient levels of equipment and supplies.

Manages the Department's asset inventory.

Creates specifications and monitors City contracts used by the Orlando Police Department.

Oversees the shipping, receiving, and distribution of all goods for the department.

Maintains the mobile computer and TM related equipment assignments for all department personnel.

Maintains and uses computerized inventory control systems.

Manages Police headquarters building security.

Sits in for the Police Support Services Manager in his absence.

Contributes to department's budgetary process by providing usage projections to program managers. 

Performs other related duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures for state and local property disbursement and disposal.

Thorough knowledge of warehousing methods, principles and practices, inventory maintenance and control, and office procedures.

Thorough knowledge of materials, supplies used by the departments.

Considerable knowledge of transportation agencies and shipping methods.

Thorough knowledge of department regulations and procedures affecting special materials and goods, and of proper purchasing and requisitioning procedures.

Position may involve the ability to store, issue and take inventory which involves bending, stooping, reaching and lifting items up to 40 lbs.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, civic groups, professional vendors, the media and the general public.

Ability to establish and maintain accurate record keeping systems and purchasing and requisitioning procedures; ability to coordinate deliveries.

Ability to plan, assign, supervise and evaluate the work of subordinates.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
