Job Description
|
|
Under general supervision, receives, verifies, and stores shipments received at the warehouse; processes requisitions and issues supplies to customers; maintains updated inventory records, including items received and issued; monitors perpetual inventory and initiates replenishment; operates warehouse equipment and tools, including a forklift; and performs other duties as assigned.
Note: The distinction between Storekeeper Assistant and Storekeeper is that the Storekeeper has some latitude in placing orders and reconciling documents.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years of experience in inventory control, warehousing, purchasing; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Forklift certificate must be obtained prior to the completion of probation.

Responsibilities

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Receives, unloads, and verifies shipments; matches packing slips with purchasing order, requisition, invoices, or other documents; records discrepancies such as partial shipment, incorrect shipment, missing or damaged goods as appropriate; informs supervisor of discrepancies as appropriate.
Stores materials on shelves, bins, or floor; identifies and labels items; monitors maintenance of perpetual inventory or special inventory; moves or rearranges stock from one area to another as stock is reclassified or relocated; takes physical inventory on a monthly, quarterly and annual cycles; assists with inventory reports.
Assists customers with store requisitions; responds to inquiries; issues supplies; records items issued or received; updates logs and inventory management system; transports goods; informs supervisor when supplies are in short supply.
Places orders to replenish storeroom supplies, confers with vendors regarding quantities and other shipment matters.
Operates warehousing equipment including fork lift, ladder, and dolly; lifts and moves stock following safety procedure; maintains cleanliness of work area.
Performs routine clerical tasks such as filing, record keeping, completing logs, data entry, and utilizes computer.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of storekeeping and inventory control methods, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of basic math including business math needed for financial transactions.
Communication skills.
Customer service skills.
Ability to operate a personal computer.
Ability to learn to use requistion and inventory management database and related systems.
Ability to perform clerical and administrative work such as preparing inventory reports and maintaining accurate records.
Ability to establish and develop effective and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
Ability to perform heavy physical work handling materials in warehouse.
Ability to operate fork lift and other warehouse equipment.
Ability to drive a vehicle.
