Job Description
|
|
Performs administrative and technical work associated with the receipt, review, and coordination of utility/right-of-way permit and damage repair requests within the City’s Engineering Division. Facilitates meetings between different city departments, utility companies and other public agencies on the permitting process and requirements for right-of-way permits. Provides professional level customer service answering questions via phone and email regarding permitting requirements. Responsible for monitoring progress of utility/right-of-way permits and research existing open permits that need to be closed out. Work is performed under general supervision according to established guidelines. Performance is reviewed through reports submitted, meetings, and results obtained for technical sufficiency and consistent application. Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree and two (2) years customer service, permitting and/or utility work experience involving considerable public contact; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Experience with Infor, ProjectDox, GIS MapWorks, and Microsoft Office products preferred.

Works with various departments, citizens and utility companies to facilitate the repair of damaged structures in the public right-of-way.
Research and review permits submitted to the city and work on closing out all current and back logged permits.
Review right-of-way project plans and specifications to identify utility requirements and potential conflicts.
Facilitate meetings between City departments and utility companies on the permitting process requirements for right of way permits.
Answers customer inquiries via email, phone and in person.
Proficient in Infor Public Sector (Infor) and ProjectDox.
Performs other related supervisory and technical duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of permitting process, plats and easements.
Ability to review right-of-way and engineering plan.
Ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects.
Ability to interact with all types of personalities and to make sound technical decisions.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to conduct and facilitate utility coordination meetings with various departments, utilities companies and public agencies.
Ability to perform field visits for utility coordination.
Ability to maintain complex records, prepare and present oral and written reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, representative from other Utility companies and City departments.
Ability to work well in a team setting or independently.
Skilled in the use of Computer software programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, GIS MapWorks, Infor and ProjectDox.
