Job Description
|
|
Performs administrative, financial, and technical work assisting in the management of the business and financial operations of the Orlando Police Department (OPD). Primary duties involve the coordination of business and financial aspects which include, but are not limited to: budgeting, fiscal analysis, receivables, purchasing, payroll, projects, and systems administration for specialized application software. Work is performed under the general direction of the Police Fiscal Manager. Work is reviewed through reports submitted, observations, periodic audits, discussions, evaluation of support ability, client feedback, and results obtained.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field plus (2) years experience in accounting, finance, and information systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must pass a background check which includes a polygraph.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Provides technical support to the Police Department, troubleshooting application errors, maintains database integrity.
Assists Technology Management with testing and upgrades and applications are accurate and operating efficiently.
Serves as a technical liaison for the department by interacting with Technology Management and consults with CYA software support.
Maintains fee structure consistency and related general ledger accounts.
Coordinates financial transaction processing for all of the Police Department.
Prepares fee analysis, budget fiscal analysis, receivables, purchasing, payroll, projects, seasonal processing, revenue and fee management, and refunds.
Plans, organizes and conducts training to program managers and supervisors in the use of financial systems software, as well as identifies other training needs of the department either site specific, one-on-one, or classroom style training classes.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of theory and application of accounting principles and procedures relates to comprehensive departmental fiscal administration.
Knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations controlling budgetary and fiscal record keeping.
Knowledge of computers and their applications.
Knowledge of principles and practices of statistics and application of financial and management principles, practices, and equipment.
Skilled in the use of Excel or comparable spreadsheet package.
Ability to apply knowledge of accounting principles to various work situations.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
